But, if a few people are interested, I would not mind helping out in a project to create an easy to use PHP class to sync from a database to a mobile phone. If people are intersted let me know and we can start coming up with a project definition. I have not really looked into this at all yet, but it was the reason I had joined this group as well. Personally my main interest would be to be able to synchronize appointments with my mobile so that it will give alarms prior to meetings and phone calls that need to be made. This would be for some of my customers. If they can sync their appointments from a database , it would save charges from sending out text messages to their phones. Regards, Mike . I would imagine the first part would be simply to identify to most valuable ressources documentation wise. I don't know how much reading you have done on this yet. Myself barely any. Do you have any links that you have found very worthy? As well as what transport methods would you like to suppport. Surely this can probably be done over the GSM network. But personally I would like to be able to take advantage of Bluetooth to be able to sync up without costs. Well, I was looking at hordes implementation, but couldnt get hold of the files, maybe you have better luck? http://horde.org/sync/ And also, I was looking at http://nicolas.bougues.net/syncml/ which lead me to this list, however, that package seems to have emerged into horde and been abandoned. At its current state it seemed to just support the P800, but I'm not sure how much that differs between models and brands. I was also looking at the wbxml standard, which seems to be a short-note xml variant to consume less bandwidth. http://www.w3.org/TR/wbxml/ I found sybyx at sourceforge, not sure if that would be possible to use with a php implementation though http://sybyx.sourceforge.net/ Also, a start for a wbxml php implementation found at http://www.k-fish.de/SyncML_support.57.0.html Hmm...thats about it, any good additions? //Eric From mikep at mi-consultants.com Mon Mar 21 17:21:46 2005 From: mikep at mi-consultants.com (Michael J. Everything is in CVS, or you can get it from framework snapshots. See http://cvs.horde.org/, http://horde.org/source/, and http://snaps.horde.org/. Our implementation is of course built on the Horde framework, but there's a pretty well-defined API that you can implement to drop in your own calendar, contact, whatever applications. I apparently looked at the wrong place, I downloaded the snapshot of framework from http://ftp.horde.org/pub/snaps/latest/framework-HEAD-2005-03-21.tar.gz which contained the syncml code and som good-to-read documentation. > Our implementation is of course built on the Horde framework, but > there's a pretty well-defined API that you can implement to drop in your > own calendar, contact, whatever applications. Well, thats not a problem for me, as long as I can implement it on any backend that I wish, which would be the case as you describe it. It seems like the implementation now is really the code from http://nicolas.bougues.net/syncml/ but implemented the horde way. So it still only supports p800/p900 with the possible addition of wbxml, is that right? Are we all on the right list to discuss the syncml in horde, or is there a better place? //eric From chuck at horde.org Mon Mar 21 18:24:06 2005 From: chuck at horde.org (Chuck Hagenbuch) Date: Mon Mar 21 18:22:59 2005 Subject: [Syncml] Nokia 6600 In-Reply-To: <423EFFE0.5020608@persson.tm> References: <20050319211003.D71CF5EE008@pfepb.post.tele.dk> <423D810E.6000500@mi-consultants.com> <423DEE1A.1030109@persson.tm> <423DF555.90308@mi-consultants.com> <423EF404.8060903@persson.tm> <20050321112300.490dhy1ocsw8k004@marina.horde.org> <423EFFE0.5020608@persson.tm> Message-ID: <20050321122406.kdft071bhocgs80g@marina.horde.org> Quoting Eric Persson : > Well, thats not a problem for me, as long as I can implement it on > any backend that I wish, which would be the case as you describe it. > It seems like the implementation now is really the code from > http://nicolas.bougues.net/syncml/ but implemented the horde way.
