One common initial confusion in DM is that the client and server are as symmetric/mirror images as in DS. But DM forbids client modifications (except replace DevInfo but...). This removes the possibility of concurrent updates and thus simplifies the logic as conflict resolution is done away with. The design philosophy of DM is that the client is a slave. A popular Use Case of DM is to manage application settings. But typically those settings can also be modified locally by applications. So, does DM intend to cover this last Use Case? If so, then the two mechanisms I can think of are to send a Generic Alert with an unparsed character data payload corresponding to the SyncML that we would like to send if we could, or again, with a Generic Alert, send a "look over there for changes" message to the server. Both of these appear to me as hacky. So, is there a case for a third profile? The only candidate I have found is kXML2, but it currently lacks support for multiple code pages. Is these anything else, or does anyone have some insight into this? First initialization is done by client and server. But at the time of synchronizing AddBook with the server, sync4j client displayed the error "String out of index range : -9".I think this is Java error, So there is problem in Sync4j clinet. At the time of synchronizing AddBook it displayed this error and didn't send any further request to the server. So please help me in solving this problem.
